As I was struggling with biochem nomenclature, I discovered that the longest word in the English language begins methianylglutaminyl… and finishes 1,913 letters later as alynalalanylthreonilarginylserase. The ending -ase means it is an enzyme that catalyzes some reaction of the polypeptide chain (protein molecule) with the same name.
Medically relevant? Perhaps not.
